Sep. 26—BROOKFIELD — Fire Chief Andrew Ellis retired this week after 12 years in the position, according to the department.

The Brookfield Fire Department said Ellis will stay on as a “driver, firefighter and EMT” following his retirement that became effective on Sunday. The department said Ellis wanted to “focus on his family, his career and education.”

Assistant Chief Derek Broadmeyer, a 14-year member of the department, will serve as interim chief, the department said.

“The officers and members would like to thank Chief Ellis for his dedication and service to the town of Brookfield and his continued support of the BVFC,” the department wrote on Facebook.

In addition, the department said Capt. Eric Kettunen has been promoted to interim assistant chief. Kettunen has served as captain since last year, the department said.
