KENT COUNTY, MI – Chad Tackett, with nearly 30 years of experience as a fire chief in Allegan and Kalamazoo counties, has been appointed Kent County Emergency Management’s deputy coordinator.
Tackett resigned as Texas Township fire chief to accept his new position.
“Chad’s extensive experience in fire service and emergency management will be a tremendous asset to Kent County,” Scott Corbin, the Kent County emergency management coordinator, said in a statement.
“We are excited to have him on board and confident his leadership will enhance our emergency preparedness efforts for years to come.”
Tackett began his career in 1995 with Otsego Fire Department. He rose through the ranks and served nearly two decades as fire chief. He spent the last 10 years as fire chief at Texas Township Fire Department.
He spent over 20 years as a program manager and instructor at the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Training Center. During this time, he provided training to rescuers in hazardous-materials response, terrorism preparation, incident command and disaster simulations.
“It has been an honor to serve the residents of Otsego and Texas Township over the past three decades, helping communities prepare for and respond to emergencies,” Tackett said in the statement.
He also served over eight years on the Michigan Firefighters Training Council.
