Fire Mark Circle Group Planning Annual Meeting

The Fire Mark Circle of the Americas is planning to hold its annual meeting October 11-12 in Baltimore. Meanwhile, a considerable segment of the U.S. membership is going to England in April to visit the parent organization, The Fire Mark Circle of London.

The group is an association of individuals interested in the history of insurance company and fire fighting memorabilia. A substantial part of its membership is comprised of insurance executives, agents and brokers. Firemarkers were plaques affixed to insured property to identify it for the benefit of fire brigades organized by the insurance companies.

President of the Fire Mark Circle, Thomas J. Tye, is a member of the Philadelphia Fire Department and curator of Fireman’s Hall Museum of that city.

Other officers elected at the annual meeting include: vice president, Albert E. Wills, teacher in Cornwells Heights, Pa.; and secretary-treasurer, Henry A. Kroll, CPCU, president of the Mutual Insurance Agency of Washington D.C.

Directors include: Eugene Morris of the Morris Agency, Inc., South Orange, N.J., founder and president of the New England Fire and History Museum, Brewster, Mass.; Thomas Hopkins, Huston insurance agent; Glenn Hartley, insurance underwriter at Chamblee, Ga.; Richard N. Irmas, CPCUCLU, of Affiliated Insurance Managers of Los Angeles; William Hedges, Philadelphia patent attorney; Richard L. Doyle, vice president of the Home Insurance Company; and Morton Werner, vice president of Lawton, Brenner and Byrne, St. Louis insurance broker.
