FIRE LIFE

Michael Morse tells about life as an emergency responder on the gritty streets of Providence, Rhode Island, in his Fire Life installment “Rescue 1, Responding”: “Then there’s the little girl whose life has unraveled before she has had a chance to live it. Her father is sick and living in a high-rise, only he is not embracing his existence. Flawed as it may be, he’s thinking only of himself, and his drug and alcohol addiction, and smoking, and drinking his days away while his daughter wanders lost through the streets of Providence.” See more of his stories about life in a rescue company, only at www.firelife.com.

SPOTLIGHT ON PHOTOGRAPHERS

SPOTLIGHT ON PHOTOGRAPHERS

Fire photographers have been instrumental in capturing how firefighters operate, maintaining a visual record of firefighting operations over time and allowing training lessons to be drawn from fire scenes that would otherwise be inaccessible to readers. Fire Engineering has had many striking fire scene photos grace its covers over the years. Many fire photographers featured in the magazine in the 20th century are still active with Fire Engineering to this day. Ron Jeffers is one such photographer. See his work through the years at http://bit.ly/1wp8bEG.
