Firefighter Among Those Injured in Blast at NJ Navy Station

Nine people were injured in an explosion at a Navy weapons station today in Middletown, New Jersey. A firefighter was among one of the victims, who mostly suffered smoke inhalation; their exact injuries and conditions were not disclosed.

The blast and fire occurred in a marine repair shot Naval Weapons Station Earle, according to a report from the New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/1aoBmA1.).

The station serves as an ammunition depot, but officials said the explosion didn’t affect any ammunition or ordnance operations.
