Immediately on arrival, DCFEMS pulled the teen from the home and began attempting life-saving measures. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, officials said.

Barbara Bailey, a next door neighbor, said she called her neighbor when she saw thick smoke coming from the duplex. Her grandson made an attempt tried saving the teenager, but the fire was too intense by that point.
