Medical LODD: Veteran GA Firefighter Dies During Operations

A Marietta (GA) firefighter died Thursday after collapsing during operations at the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/XvhJ2b) that Lonnie Lee Nutt, 49, suffered a medical emergency after driving to the scene of a wreck with injuries.

When firefighters arrived on the scene and begin to assist an injured patient, Engineer Nutt fell to the ground. Colleagues assisted Nutt until an ambulance arrived.

The city’s fire marshal told reporters that Nutt was felled by what appeared to be a massive heart attack. He was transported to an area medical facility but could not be revived.
