Firefighter memorial funds needed

Firefighter memorial funds needed

Frank Coombs

Executive Vice President

Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters, Inc. Hampden, Maine

I am the chair of a committee to raise monies to place a fallen firefighters memorial in Augusta, Maine. Our goal is to raise $37,500.

The memorial will be dedicated to all Maine firefighters who have given the ultimate sacrifice. They gave their lives in the line of duty so that others might enjoy another sunrise. It is only right that we honor these firefighters with a memorial so that they will never be forgotten. This memorial will be placed in Augusta near the memorial to the fallen police officers of Maine. We have paperwork in place, the design chosen, and the site selected. Now, we need your help.

There are more than 400 fire departments and EMS services in Maine. If each fire department and EMS service were to donate $100 to this fund, we would meet our goal and the memorial fund would become a reality. We cannot do this without the support of Maine firefighters, EMS crews, and friends of the fire service. We are asking the fire service, EMS crews, and friends to show their true colors again and not to forget those who gave their all. Any donation will help. This memorial is long overdue. Let`s make it happen now!

Send donations to Candace Stevens, Treasurer, Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters, Inc., P.O. Box 97, Stratton, ME 04982.
