Firefighter, Residents Hurt in Indiana Apartment Fire

A Jeffersonville (IN) firefighter was taken to a hospital for observation after a ceiling partially collapsed while he was operating at the scene of an apartment fire that injured three other people.

WLKY reported (http://bit.ly/1AaHYw6) that the fire broke out about 10 p.m. Monday at a 19-unit apartment complex. A male and two females were taken to an area hospital for observation after the fire. The injured firefighter was treated and released.

No specifics on the nature of the partial collapse were available in this instance, however structural collapse under fire conditions is a serious threat to firefighters operating on the fireground.
