Firefighters Battle Five-Alarm Westbury (NY) Fire

Fire crews responded to a five-alarm fire at a recycling facility in Westbury, New York, on Long Island.

According to Newsday, the fire at Jamaica Ash and Rubbish Removal was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday and prompted the suspension of Long Island Rail Road service overnight.

Firefighters continued to operated at the scene Thursday morning.

At least 53 departments responded to the fire or were on standby, according to News 12.

There were no reports of injuries, and the fire was being fought defensively on account of collapse fears.
