Fire photographer Ron Jeffers shared some photos from the scene of a four-alarm fire in Weehawken, New Jersey, that extended to multiple structures.
Around 10:40 p.m., North Hudson Fire Control dispatched a full assignment to the 400-block of 9th St. in Union City. A fire in the structure in the rear had extended to buldings on both 9th and 8th St.
Shortly after this multiple alarm was transmitted, Fire Control dispatched a “modified assignment” to Dodd St. in Weehawken. The rear of
a dwelling were involved that fronted on Jane St. Heavy fire quickly consumed three homes that were separated by small alleys.
A second alarm was transmitted, but because of the response to the previous fire, help would be coming from a distance. Crews rapidly set up handlines to protect exposures.
Mutual aid arrived from Jersey City, Kearny, Hoboken, and Bayonne, as well as from fire departments in Belleville, Bloomfield, and Montclair from Essex County.
