At around 18:20 on January 11, firefighters from the Belleville (NJ) Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 141 Floyd St.
On arrival, companies found a working fire in the attic of a 2 1/2-story frame dwelling, An interior attack commenced, but the attic became untenable and fire was also showing on the second floor in the rear, forcing command to pull all members out and go to a defensive attack.
After it appeared the main body of fire was knocked down, companies re-entered the building, but the fire was in the walls and in numerous voids in the attic and command was forced to pull everyone out a second time.
After hitting the fire again from the outside with numerous hand lines, a deck gun, and a ladder pipe, companies finally got the upper hand and went back in to complete extinguishment. The fire was under control after an approximately two-hour fight and no injuries were reported.
