Structural Firefighting:  Fire Crews Control Ferndale (MI) Dwelling Fire

On Thursday, April 16, 2015, firefighters from the Ferndale (MI) Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 1831 Browning.

Engine 4 arrived on the scene with a crew of two to a 1 1/2-story occupied dwelling with heavy smoke showing. All other Ferndale apparatus were committed on medical runs.

Mutual aid was requested from Hazel Park, Madison Heights, and Royal Oak fire departments. With the crew of two, an exterior attack was performed until mutual aid companies arrived on the scene. Once mutual aid arrived, crews switched to an interior attack.

Crews operated for 30 minutes to bring this fire under control. The occupants of the dwelling were able to self evacuate. The cause of the fire is under investigation with extensive damage to the dwelling. Ferndale, Hazel Park, Madison Heights, and Royal Oak fire departments responded to this incident.
