Firefighters Hike to Wildfire on Mount Charleston

Nevada firefighters are hoping to quell a wildfire in steep terrain on Mount Charleston before winds weep through the Las Vegas area, reports KLAS-TV Las Vegas.

U.S. Forest Service fire spokesman Ray Johnson said Monday that a helicopter and about 40 firefighters on foot are working to control the Harris Fire above the Fletcher View campground off Kyle Canyon Road.

No one has been hurt and no structures are threatened. The fire was discovered late Sunday in pinion pine and mountain mahogany at an elevation of about 8,000 feet.
