A family of four lost their home and pet dog in a recent house fire in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Area fire photographer Rick McClure provided some photos from the scene.
The fire inside a 95-year-old, one-story home was reported at 6:09 p.m. Friday by someone walking by the house, according to a report.
Thirty-seven city of Los Angeles firefighters made a well-coordinated attack on the fire and managed to rescue the family’s pet cat, although crews were not able to save the family’s dog.
The bulk of fire was confined to one bedroom and the attic, and extinguished in 20 minutes. The house was not equipped with functional smoke alarms, the report noted.
