An overnight fire in West Hempstead on Long Island, New York, destroyed a detached garage and did substantial damage to the nearby home on Tuesday, January 19.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 3:00 a.m. and found a raging fire in the rear of a home on Forest Place near Mulberry Lane.

Units were advised that there were propane tanks stored in the garage, but firefighters were able to locate and remove them without incident.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes and Nassau County Fire Marshals were called to the scene to investigate the cause.
