Firefighters rescued two unconscious people this morning from a burning Syracuse home, reports syracuse.com (http://tinyurl.com/j6abqfe)
The fire at 330 Bruce St. was reported at 5:59 a.m.. When firefighters arrived three minutes later, they learned at least one person remained on the second floor — the area where the fire started, said Syracuse Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Hess.
There was a little confusion in the beginning about the number of victims, he said.
Firefighters rushed into the wood-frame home and found two people on the second floor. Both people were unconscious when firefighters took them out of the home, Hess said.
Both of the people rescued from the home were transported to hospitals. Hess said he didn’t know the patients’ conditions or the extent of their injuries.
With the patients out of the residence, firefighters quickly knocked out the flames on the second floor and the attic. By about 6:15 a.m., no smoke or flames were visible.
A six-member family lives on the home’s second floor and nine-member family lives on the home’s first floor, Hess said. It was unclear whether the 15 people would be able to immediately return to the home.
