Camden (NJ) Firefighters Face Heavy Fire Conditions at 2-Alarmer

On Friday, May 22, 2015, a dwelling fire was reported at 6 a.m. at 1131 Kaighns Ave in Camden City, New Jersey.

Squad 7, located down the block, arrived on location with heavy fire conditions second floor of a three-story, end-of-the-row dwelling. Squad 7 secured a water supply and placed a line in operation. Battalion 1 arrived and struck the All Hands box.  

At the 10-minute mark, Battalion 1 reported two lines in operation with heavy fire conditions on the secnd floor extending to the third floor. Crews also reported fire extension into the attached garage area.  A second alarm was struck.

Command ordered all companies out of the building as fire conditions worsened. One firefighter was treated and transported by EMS after sustaining a leg injury in the dwelling.  

At the 50-minute mark, Car 1 reported two ladder pipes in operation with crews knocking down the fire.  

Crews re entered the structure to open up and hit hot spots, and the fire was placed under control.
