A 58-year-old resident died after jumping from an apartment fire Monday in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York.
The New York Post reported that the victim, his clothes ablaze, leaped from the three-story structure onto bedding that other civilians set up for jumpers.
Two other residents were seriously hurt, while three more suffered minor injuries, the report said.
The Post highlighted the role of one 16-year-old who entered the burning building to help rescue residents.
NY1 reported the Fire Department of New York officials said the fire was accidental.
