Firefighters from around the South Bay and state downgraded a Gilroy fire on Wednesday morning from 50 acres to 42 acres, and said that it was 50 percent contained, reports NBC Bay Area.
The fire was reported at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday in a canyon off Highway 101, near Highway 25 and the Monterey Frontage Rd, south of Gilroy. Hwy 101 near Monterey Frontage Rd, South of Gilroy.
No structures are threatened by the fire and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the incident remains under investigation, officials said. The smoke was quite bothersome to many residents in Gilroy.
