Five-Alarm Fire Erupts at MA Shopping Mall

According to a report from WPRI, Fall River (MA) Fire Department (FRFD) crews are attempting to find out the cause of a five-alarm fire that erupted inside a town shopping plaza late Monday night.

All firefighters available in the area arrived to Mariano Bishop Boulevard at around 9 p.m. and found heavy flames and smoke shooting from the roof of Burns Power Tools.

FRFD Chief Roger St. Martin said they observed the roof was caving in, so crews began attacking the flames from above with an aerial.

The flames from Burns also damaged an adjacent Subway sandwich shop, but crews prevented the flames from spreading to a medical building just a few yards away, according to St. Martin.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
