Five Killed in Sheffield (UK) House Fire

Three generations of a family were killed in a house fire in the city of Sheffield, England.

A baby, two children, and their aunt and grandmother died in the fire, according to The Guardian (http://bit.ly/1nWQ19n). The grandmother initially escaped the fire and re-entered the home to try and save the other victims. The children’s mother and father survived the fire.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue firefighters responded at 12:15 a.m. local time, bringing four fire apparatus and an ambulance to the scene. An aerial ladder was used to battle the flames, which a spokesman characterized as “severe.”

It’s unclear what started the fire. An investigation has begun.

Man Dies After Explosion Leads To Fire at Residence in Waterbury (CT)

A man has died after an explosion in a home in Waterbury on Sunday led to a fire at the residence.
