Scottsmoor, FL – A state of emergency has been declared in Brevard County Florida as wildfires grew overnight Monday according to reports from WOFL FOX 35 and CNN. Reports indicate that the fires have spread quickly to engulf approximately 13,000 acres destroying two hunting camps and numerous mobile homes.
Approximately 20 residents have been evacuated from campgrounds and trailer parks in the area. The fire began in an undeveloped, rural area but reports indicate that residential areas are threatened as the fire continues to grow. Authorities have not yet ordered evacuations for Volusia County but Fire Department officials report two unoccupied trailers in a hunting camp off Stacy Grove Road, south of Oak Hill, were destroyed.
Firefighters battled against fires in the same area last week.
