FlashFire creates scaled backdrafts, flashovers and gas explosions for training that makes an impact. With the FlashFire Training System instructors can show trainees the conditions that lead to these dangerous situations, demonstrate the tactics to reduce risk and show what can happen in a worst-case scenario.
The FlashFire Training System is a scaled version of a residential structure, with a door, roof vents and interior props. Using the handheld controller, an instructor has a wide range of flexibility and can choose from pre-programmed scenarios, or manually introduce smoke, fuel and ignition sources, and can even control the amount of air flow and ventilation to create conditions found at a fire scene. Trainees can view the events in real time and gain a true understanding of some of the most dangerous fire risks.
“Backdrafts, flashovers and gas explosions occur rapidly with little or no warning. Training to be aware of these dangerous situations can make the difference on the fireground,” commented Ryan O’Donnell, BullEx President. “With our new FlashFire Training System, instructors are now able to reinforce theory with actual live-fire scenarios.”
In other news, Lamar County, based in Purvis, Mississippi, welcomed the delivery of their BullEx 21′ Smart Fire Safety and Emergency Training Trailer. The County’s new mobile fire prevention training environment features interactive kitchen and bedroom emergency scenarios. The kitchen features a fully interactive burning cooktop, burning cabinet, a rechargeable laser driven fire extinguisher, interactive smoke detector, and an interactive 9-1-1 phone.
Smoke issues from the “feel for heat” bedroom door allowing for interactive hazard recognition and evacuation lessons. Trainees can safely practice evacuation drills through the E.D.I.T.H sliding window with exterior mounted escape ladder. The simulations demonstrate the escalation of a residential emergency in real time, providing realistic hands-on fire extinguisher and evacuation training. The trailer is also equipped with the extreme weather package, which simulates real time hurricane, tornado, flood, and earthquake situations to teach emergency preparedness.
Lamar County’s 13 fire departments will use the trailer to make fire safety presentations at schools, hospitals, and local businesses. Their mission is to educate all school children 14 and under as well as spread fire safety awareness to the elderly.
Firefighters from the Bayou Cane Fire District located in Houma, Louisiana welcomed the delivery of their 21′ BullEx Fire Safety and Emergency Training Trailer. The mobile fire prevention training environment features and interactive kitchen and bedroom training rooms. The kitchen includes a variety of training scenarios including a smoking outlet, chemical cabinet, burning cooktop, 911 phone and interactive smoke detector response scenarios. The bedroom is equipped with a heated and smoking door to allow trainees to “feel for heat” and then evacuate through the sliding window and exterior mounted escape ladder for successful E.D.I.T.H. drills. The simulations demonstrate the escalation of a residential emergency in real time, providing realistic hands-on fire extinguisher and evacuation training.
Bayou Cane Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1962 and has since grown into a fire protection district with full time career firefighters. The department responds to approximately 2500 calls of service per year. Our services include fire suppression, EMS, hazardous materials response, and rescue/extrication.
