Four Dead and One Unaccounted for After East Orange (NJ) Fire

UPDATE (12/8/2014): News sources say five people died in yesterday’s fire. Among the dead was a six-week-old infant.

ORIGINAL STORY: Four people have been found dead and one more is unaccounted for after a fast-moving fire in East Orange Sunday morning, reports WABC-TV New York (http://7ny.tv/1s1P5HA)

The victims range from six weeks to 78 years old, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Firefighters spent several hours battling the three-alarm fire as the flames spread to two other houses.

Neighbors say the occupants of one of the homes include a grandmother, her older son, a cousin, and a cousin’s child.

The fire was brought under control by 9:30 a.m., with firefighters battling hot spots.
