Know Your Smoke: The Dangers of Fire Smoke, a free training event for firefighters and others exposed to fire smoke, will be held at the Wells Fargo Theatre, Autry Western Museum in Los Angeles, California on January 27 and 28, 2012.
This class is sponsored by the Fire Smoke Coalition located in Indianapolis, Indiana and Rae Systems. The course will be taught by some of the leading experts on HCN and Smoke Toxicology.
The following topics will be addressed:
January 27 (Classroom Session): 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Fire Smoke: Perceptions, Myths and Misunderstandings
- Air Management and NFPA 1404
- Atmospheric Monitoring for HCN/CO—The Toxic Twins
- Pre-hospital HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide) Assessment and Antidotal Treatment
January 28 (Live Burn Training): 8:30 AM – Noon
Focus on proper usage of atmospheric monitoring equipment with a focus on HCN and CO.
