Funeral for Fallen Baltimore (MD) Fire Captain

Fallen Baltimore (MD) Fire Captain Dillon J. Rinaldo was laid to rest Friday in a funeral service at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

The funeral service takes place at the same location as where, one week prior, the fire department held a funeral service for Baltimore City (MD) Firefighter Rodney Pitts III, who died after the same fire that killed Lieutenant Rinaldo.

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Baltimore City Fire Department firefighters responded to a fire that broke out in a block of brick two-story homes. While inside one of the homes, five firefighters became overwhelmed by the smoke and heat. All five members were rushed to the hospital.

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Lieutenant Dillon J. Rinaldo, 26, died as a result of the injuries he sustained. On the evening of October 19, 2023, EMT/Firefighter Rodney Pitts III, 31, also passed away. The other three firefighters have been treated and released. Investigation into the incident continues. The fire department posthumously promoted Rinaldo from lieutenant to captain.
