Savannah (GA) – Three first responders were honored Tuesday night for their courageous service in the line of duty.

Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire’s seventh annual Valor Awards celebrated Savannah firefighters Justin Goldberg and Christopher Lamb along with Helena-based Georgia State Patrol Trooper Kelvin Carswell.

Goldberg and Lamb pulled a woman out of the Savannah River on two separate incidents. On June 9, Savannah firefighters were called after a woman jumped into the tumultuous river. Goldberg jumped in and saved her. A week later, Lamb pulled the same woman out of the river.

Carswell was honored for helping arrest an armed suspect who led police on a multicounty chase that resulted in the death of Montgomery County Sheriff Ladson O’Connor.
