Georgia House Fire Kills Four Children

Authorities outside Atlanta (GA) say four children, including an infant, are dead after rescuers tried to save them from a house fire, reports the Associated Press.

Police say another child, who is 6, was thrown by his mother from a second-floor window. He survived but injured his shoulder.

Glenn Allen, a spokesman for Georgia’s fire commissioner, tells The Associated Press the mother was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with second- and third-degree burns.

Allen says seven people were in the home: a grandmother, the mother and five children. Conyers police Major Mike Waters told reporters the children who died range in age from the infant to 7 years old.

Allen says there’s no indication to what caused the fire.
