Firefighters in Granite City, Illinois, battled a fire at the Total Metal Recycling plant. The fire involved computers and lithium-ion batteries.

Two alarms were struck, bringing in companies from four separate counties including a MABAS response from St. Louis County across the river in Missouri. Two hydrants along with a tanker shuttle were used to supply three aerial water streams. Foam operations were also deployed. Smoke from the fire could be seen over 30 miles away.
