Firefighters in the village of Hempstead on Long Island, New York, battled a raging house fire Saturday afternoon, November 17.

The fire totally destroyed a two-story house on Thorne Avenue in the center of the village.

One firefighter was injured by falling debris while venting a second floor window and was transported to an area hospital.

Mutual aid companies from several surrounding communities responded to the scene.

Nassau County Fire Marshals were investigating the blaze.
