High Park Fire Explodes to 81190 Acres

The High Park Fire grew to 81,190 acres and has become the second-largest wildfire in Colorado’s recorded history, reports The Coloradoan.

Crews fighting the High Park Fire are staring at yet more days of high temperatures and virtually no humidity that bring with them the potential for extreme fire behavior, intensity and growth.

And while firefighters had by Saturday contained 45 percent of the High Park Fire, dry conditions proved the perfect catalyst for more of nature’s fury, sparking a 20-acre fire in Estes Park that consumed at least 16 homes.
