Houston (TX) Firefighters Struggle in High Heat to Extinguish Apartment Fire

Houston (TX) firefighters had to contend with triple-digit temperatures as they battling a huge fire at an apartment complex on Tuesday.

The fire occurred at the Savannah CityView complex just before 5 p.m. local time. Added personnel were required on scene to relieve firefighters operating on the fireground, an official told KHOU 11 News.

The state of Texas has suffered extreme drought and unrelenting heat this summer, conditions which not only contribute to wildfires but also affect fire crews operating at structure fires, as well. The need for comprehensive on-scene rehab and hydration is critical in such situations.
