CLEVELAND, Ohio — Firefighters battled a massive fire in several buildings early Monday morning on the city’s West Side, closing a section of Lorain Avenue for several hours and causing an estimated $500,000 in damage.
The Cleveland Fire Department says more than 60 firefighters responded to the scene at an auto sales business at the corner of West 48th Street and Lorain Avenue. Multiple buildings were on fire when they arrived.
WEWS Channel 5 reports that “multiple explosions” were heard during the fire and that the roof of a building collapsed. No injuries were reported by the fire department early Monday morning.
The fire was brought under control at about 3:15 a.m.
