Bridgeton, MO – Michael Schlatman, President of the International Association of Arson Investigators and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director Carl J. Truscott recently announced the launch of a new online learning program for fire investigators called CFITrainer.net.
CFITrainer.net is designed to bring the resources of the more than 8000 members of the IAAI together with highly experienced media professionals to provide up to date, high quality training directly to the fire investigators throughout the world. Using internet connected computers in the workplace or home, fire investigators will have access to programs on a wide variety of topics related to the field of fire investigations. Additionally, CFITrainer.net will allow the IAAI to present live programs, or Webinars, on topics that are of immediate interest to the fire investigation community.
CFITrainer.net is a comprehensive system that allows participants to register for programs, track their progress as they complete educational modules, take on-line evaluation tests regarding the information in the modules and document their participation. The testing and documentation features are important to fire investigators who require credit for IAAI-CFI(r) certification. While CFITrainer.net will assist individuals seeking IAAI-CFI(r) certification, or recertification, the program is intended for and available to all fire investigators regardless of their level of training or certification.
The broad-based training modules will assist fire investigators in meeting the topical areas contained in NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators.
A committee of highly IAAI leaders has been established to oversee the program and insure that quality and content of materials included on CFITrainer.net is the best that is available and consistent with current treatises, including NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations.
The International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) has created this interactive training and educational network in order to share expertise and deliver consistent and credible courses or modules to investigators around the globe. It will utilize text, audio, video, graphics, animation and Virtual Reality. Some programs will be distributed via live Webcast and then archived and distributed so that those who missed the event will still be able to take advantage of the content and receive credit for years to come.
CFITrainer.net is designed to allow users to immerse themselves in content while working at their own pace. The IAAI and its partners including ATF, NIST and the Insurance Committee for Arson Control will work to deliver unique learning experiences that are positive, challenging and fun.
