IAFC Foundation awards 34 scholarships

Thirty-four applicants shared in the $25,400 in scholarships awarded by the International

Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Foundation for 1996. Awards ranged from $3,000 to $250. Four of the awards went to the Carpentersville (IL) Fire Department.

Tied for first-place $3,000 scholarships were Diane Collins of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; Richard Blatus of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and John Schuldt of Carpentersville, Ill. David Howland of Kenosha, Wisc., received a $2,000 award. Receiving a $1,000 scholarship were Ken McGuire of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Keith Krestan of Lisle, Ill.; Mary Ellen Lescoe of Bloomfield, Conn.; and Juan Atan of Winter Park, Fla.

Winners of the additional awards, ranging from $250 to $700, were as follows: Thomas Mulligan, New Windsor, N.Y.; Claude Seeley, Jonesboro, Ga.; John Skillman, Carpentersville, Ill.; Gregory Sabo, San Angelo, Tex.; Camille McCullough, Orlando, Fla.; Ryan Crabtree, East Hazel Crest, Ill.; Tyler Cruse, Athens, Ga.; Jason Gagnepain, Hollister, Mo.; Kurt Heindrichs,

Stafford, Va.; Robert Guetschow, Carpentersville, Ill.; Melissa Allen, Louisville, Ky.; Warren Whitley, Stafford, Va.; Glenn Cupit, Monroe, La.; Brent Jenks, Enfield, Conn.; Brian LoPiccolo, Holtsville, N.Y.; Mike Meaner, Uniontown, Kan.; Drew Lazarus, Canaan, N.H.; John Lyons, Reading, Pa.; Don Waller, Winthrop, Wash.; Brian Sheehan, Mahopac, N.Y.; Jamon Ingelse, Amston, Conn.; Herb Ley, Woodbridge, Va.; Mike Libertini, Carmel, N. Y.; Daniel McNeece, Columbia, Md.; and Del Ulreich, Arlington Heights, Ill.

Companies that provided some of the funding for the scholarships were Body Guard, the Janesville and Stationwear divisions of Lion Apparel, W.S. Darley and Company, Duo Safety Ladder Corp., Jaffrey Fire Protection Company, King Fisher Company, Mine Safety Appliances Company, Scott Health and Safety Company, Super Vacuum Manufacturing Company, and Volunteer Firemen`s Insurance Services.
