IAFC, Motorola Offer Opportunity for New and Aspiring Chiefs

The Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI) is now accepting applications for its 2016 session. The Institute, an International Association of Fire Chiefs program funded by a grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation, http://www.motorolasolutions.com/en_us/about/company-overview/corporate-responsibility.html is offering 20 new (holding the position no longer than a year) and aspiring chiefs the opportunity to acquire the skills and tools that help to develop more successful and productive leaders/chiefs. Accepted applicants will be awarded a scholarship to cover the cost of airfare, housing, and meals for the on-site sessions. Deadline is Friday, January 8, 2016.

The components of the program, which will necessitate a one-year commitment from participants, include the following:

  • A six-day introductory residency at a conference center in the Washington Metropolitan region.
  • A four-six month period of self-study during which mentors and executive coaches will be present for consultation.
  • Two-three days of additional sessions; mentors and coaches will be present.
  • A two-three day debriefing session at the end of the program.
  • Attendance at the Fire-Rescue International full conference. The participant or department will be responsible for the registration and travel and on-site expenses.
  • The completion of a project that will help to enhance the fire and emergency service and active participation in professional organizations at the state or national level.
  • Maintaining an ongoing relationship with peers, networking with members of the 2016 FSEDI participants and other FSEDI alumni.
