The IAFF invites journalists to join hundreds of North America’s dedicated fire fighters and paramedics as they hone the skills they need to stay safe while responding to dangerous incidents like the Boston Marathon bombing, the Ebola scare and countless other emergencies.
Media are granted full access to this three-day symposium. Here are a few hands-on events that present great video opportunities, access to experts and technical background to season reporting:
- Fire Ops 101 – Experience first-hand the skills required and risks inherent to the profession. Fire Ops101 will drop you into real emergency situations in a controlled environment. Wear the equipment, conduct drills and see what saving lives feels like.
- Fire Ground Survival – This is the most comprehensive fire ground survival skills program available in the United States. This training teaches fire fighters best practices and how to be prepared to take emergency life-saving action.
- Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) — Using unique small group techniques, this course will introduce the concepts of TECC, review current guidelines and allow for hands-on familiarity with the most common TECC equipment in use
