Champaign (IL) – Since the 2013 Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) printed calendar went to press, a number of schedule changes are being announced.
Added classes:
- SWMD: Structural Collapse Rescue Technician – September 30 – October 4; Champaign campus
- SWMD: Confined Space Rescue Technician – May 20 – 24; Champaign campus
- SWMD: Confined Space Rescue Technician – November 4 – 8; Champaign campus
Changes
- Fire Attack and Suppression Techniques (FAST) moves from week of May 13 to week of April 22 – 26.
- Spring Basic Firefighter/NFPA Firefighter I Academy changes to seven weeks and begins on March 4.
- Fall Basic Firefighter/NFPA Firefighter I Academy changes to seven weeks and begins on Tuesday, September 3.
The Illinois Fire Service Institute is the statutory State Fire Academy for Illinois. In addition to training provided at its Champaign campus, the Institute offers one-day hands-on classes for fire departments at Regional Training Centers and local fire stations across the State. The mission of the Illinois Fire Service Institute is to help firefighters do their work through training, education, information and research.
