On late Monday evening, firefighters from the Paragon (IL) Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a residence fire. Assistance was immediately requested from A&A Township Volunteer Fire Department.

On arrival, firefighters found a well-involved structure fire with no immediate exposure other than a propane tank that was located on the side yard of the residence. The fire appeared to have started in the garage and spread its way through the attic area and to the rest of the house. On arrival, the roof of garage had already burned away.

The residence was in rural area of their district, and the department never ran out of water, however two more departments were summoned to respond with tankers/tenders to assist. The fire department was on scene for approximately four hours checking for extension andhot spots. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes. There were oxygen and acetylene tanks in the garage that vented, adding additional fuel to the fire. An exact cause of the fire is still under investigation but is believed to be electrical in nature.
