Indianapolis firefighters responded today to an incident in which a woman who was ejected from a vehicle after a crash ended up on the roof of a building. The woman was critically injured.
Witnesses told firefighters that the female driver of a white Pontiac G6 was headed North on Parker at a high rate of speed. Just before crossing 37th street, the driver hit a fence, clipped a parked red Pontiac G6 which flipped her car into the air (nose down). She struck the side of a house and came back down, landing wheels down on the street.
When the car flipped into the air and struck the house, the driver was ejected from the car–through the rear window–and landed on the roof the house.
Firefighters located her on the roof, unconscious and in critical condition. After securing the female driver to a backboard, firefighters used the aerial ladder bucket to remove her from the roof.
There were two children in the car: a newborn and a toddler. It is unclear whether or not the children were properly restrained. The children were removed from the car by bystanders and taken to a relative’s house. Engine 10 drove to the location where the children were and checked them for injury. The children were okay but transported to Riley be checked out via Medic 31.
