Indianapolis firefighters responded Sunday to a working residence fire that left one occupant dead.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:22 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, with first-units arriving on scene at 7:25 a.m. Sixteen Indianapolis Fire Department units responded to the scene at 5247 Norwaldo Ave.

Crews found a single-story home of ordinary construction with heavy smoke showing from the south side window. Entry teams found fire on the first floor with several holes in the floor. The fire victim was located at 7:27 a.m. and the fire was placed under control at 7:35 a.m.
There were no reported firefighter injuries.
