Indianapolis firefighters responded late Tuesday evening to a working double residence fire with possible entrapment.

Crews performed an aggressive interior attack with multiple handlines at the three-story structure (ordinary construction). Command ordered a defensive attack, and companies then redoubled an offensive posture later in the incident.

One firefighter suffered a minor, unspecified injury and was transported. Damage is estimated at $145,000, and there were no working smoke alarms at the scene.

RITA L. REITH is a battalion chief with the Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department and serves as the agency’s public information officer.
