Internal Investigation of Milwaukee Firefighter Vandalism Concludes

An internal investigation of five Milwaukee firefighters accused of vandalizing their own firehouse has concluded, report WITI.

In a statement released Friday, February 14th, the fire chief cited that most, if not all, members responsible for the fire department vandalism have left and are not subject to discipline. Two members will be demoted and serve unpaid suspensions of 30 days. Three other members will serve 30-day suspensions.

The case dates back to September 28th during an overnight shift at engine house 32 on Milwaukee’s north side. Sources say equipment was vandalized, a dead mouse was put in a locker, and pornography was discovered.

Nine firefighters were immediately placed on suspension during an investigation. Two other firefighters ended up retiring and the chief suspended an additional two firefighters for five days without pay. Two probationary firefighters were fired. Those men attempted to get their jobs back to no avail.

It’s a punishment Nathan Fager, one of the firefighters who lost his job, calls unfair. Fager’s wife tells FOX6 they are “sad and disappointed” and are “paying the price for other people’s behaviors.”

Fager is still out of work. The Milwaukee Fire Department now considers this case closed.
