Oct. 11—The investigation continues into a Shillington house fire in which a woman died, officials said Monday.
The two-alarm fire at 38 Philadelphia Ave. occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday.
After firefighters were able to get into the building, they found someone dead on the second floor, according to emergency reports.
The woman, who was believed to be a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at 10:07 p.m., officials said. Officials have not released her name.
Shillington fire officials said a state police fire marshal is still investigating the origin and cause of the fire, and did not have other details.
No timetable was available for the completion of the investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday night in Reading Hospital. More information concerning identification, cause and manner of death will be released Wednesday morning, the Berks County coroner’s office has said.
The home is owned by William and Suzanne Hurley, according to Berks County property records, but was rented and not occupied by the owner, officials said.
