An Irondale firefighter who suffered a heart attack May 31 while working a house fire has been released from the hospital, reports ABC 33 (http://bit.ly/1mOrCk1).

A city spokesperson says the unidentified firefighter, who is expected to make a full recovery, was discharged Thursday from Trinity Medical Center, but he won’t return to work for several more weeks per doctor’s orders.

The 33-year-old firefighter was performing an overhaul of a house fire when he went into cardiac arrest. He was treated at the scene then transported to the hospital, where he underwent “hypothermic therapy.”
