Judge Dismisses Firefighters’ Lawsuit Against Orlando

Orlando, FL, October 26, 2001-A judge has dismissed the Orlando firefighters’ lawsuit against the city. The action alleged that the city knew firefighters were ill but did not reveal that information to the firefighters. Some of the firefighters have been diagnosed with hepatitis C.

The judge dismissed the case but stated that the lawsuit might qualify as a malpractice case. The decision came just days after the city and firefighters reached an agreement that allows the firefighters to have their medical records independently reviewed by their own doctors.

As of October 26, the firefighters involved in the lawsuit had not decided how to proceed in light of the judge’s ruling.
