A Whitley City (KY) firefighter who sustained severe burns at a fire in August has succumbed to his injuries.

Lieutenant Arlie “Pooh” Hill III died Sunday at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to a WCPO report (http://bit.ly/1dhwVGh). Hill suffered burns on 90 percent of his body after responding to an August fire in which a child was believed to be trapped.

Hill, 37, and his brother-in-law, Adam Stephens, rushed to help put out a fire that had ignited at a house down the street from where they were socializing when he became trapped in the living room and a flashover occurred.

Several dozen firefighters from the region visited Hill in the hospital and helped support his family over the past month.
