Just after 3:00 PM on July 16, 2014, city of Knoxville (TN) firefighters and Rural/Metro (TN) paramedics were dispatched to a report of an injury crash.
The crash was on Cedar Lane in north Knoxville and is located approximately one mile from Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) station 14.
Upon arrival KFD Engine 14 found a high-speed head-on injury crash. The major impact was between an SUV and a passenger car and both cars suffered heavy damage. The third car was also a SUV and had light damage.
Rural/Metro (TN) EMS arrived on the scene quickly and found both drivers of the head-on crash were suffering traumatic injuries. Both were put in full C-spine precautions, provided ALS care, and were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, a Level-1 trauma center.
Knoxville Police were the investigative agency and Cedar Lane, a busy thoroughfare was closed for just over an hour.
