ATWATER VILLAGE, CA — A pair of victims were saved in a swiftwater rescue operation in the Los Angeles River by the LA Fire Department on Friday.
9:45 am reports indicated a male and female stranded in the river around near the 2800 block of N. Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village, officials said.
Firefighters used swift water rescue technique to pluck the man from the water around 10:25 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital in fair condition.
Firefighters continued to search for the woman until they located and rescued her just before noon. She suffered from hypothermia and scratches to her face.
It was unclear why the pair was in the river bed.
